Fear Of Adverse Consequences Subtype

This is a presentation of Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID) where children or adolescents avoid certain foods due to fear of choking, vomiting, or other negative outcomes. This can lead to significant nutritional deficiencies and impaired social functioning. Treatment typically involves cognitive-behavioural therapy with exposure techniques, often combined with nutritional counselling and family-based interventions.
